Impromptu photoshoot with these 3 beautiful ladies. Once again weather man was wrong and we got some unexpected snow and it made for a perfect excuse to go out and play. Needless to say it was a tad bit cold in mid 30 degree weather. Girls were troopers and rocked their shoot. The frozen horseshoe shaped pond made the perfect backdrop.
After our session I asked the girls to pick out their favorites.
Right off the bat, this was in instant favorite for all 3 of them.
Big sister looking annoyed as little sisters are grinning ear to ear.
Sisterly love without a doubt is undeniable with these 3 and it shows.
Last but not least, a couple individual portraits to complete our day out.

First there were 2, now there are 3. I have had the pleasure of watching these little guys grow up. I met the two oldest 5 years ago when they were just wee little ones. Each year these little guys sure have a way of making me smile.
A couple of years ago, while at Minnehaha Falls, these two big brothers started an annual tradition of walking with each other down a path together blabbing about about what ever it is brothers talk about. Last year when it came time to take that leisurely stroll with their little brother, they did so pulling him along in their wagon on their grandpa’s farm. A year later no wagon was needed as they took a stroll through Cliffon Regional Park in Plymouth, MN. I love this!
I love how these little guys interact with one another.
So what do you do when you find a teepee on on the trail? Play in it of course.
and who doesn’t love climbing a rock? I’ll admit it wasn’t easy keeping them still. Luckily momma was a wonderful help.
Rain decided to start coming down again while these little guys were enjoying themselves. On our way back to the parking lot though they decided it was time to play in the leaves which was as cute as can be. Who do you think came up the most dirt?
There is no doubt this little one stole the show on our session. How can so much personality be wrapped up into one little adorable person?
I may be a little bais but these guys melt my heart cuz they are so cute!
Best birthday gift ever was the birth of my daughter. She has been a spit fire since before she was born and hasn’t stopped since. Always on the run and this year she asked for anything that she could play with outside. How cool is that? I love how much personality and unique each of my daughter are.
A couple months ago my girl got her first pair of glasses. When it came time to pick out her glasses she picked these because they were just like dad’
I love how her personality really showed through in the outtakes.
Its amazing how quickly children grow up. I have been blessed with 3 beautiful and awesome daughters. They have taught me so much over the last decade and a half. I have learned to love unconditionally from the first second they came into my life and they have given me courage to do things I might not have been able to do otherwise. My girls are my life.
I have heard children will change your life forever. I can say with a warm heart that is so very true. If you don’t take the time to pause to just sit back to watch and listen to what they are doing you will miss out on some of the funniest and silliest stuff they do.
Over the weekend the weather decided to cooperate long enough to take my girls out for a mini session. Its been almost 2 years since I updated the photos on my wall and long overdue. As a photographer let me tell you it can be quite difficult picking photos for yourself when there are so many cute ones to choose from for various reasons. I can’t help it, I love the shots that show off their personality just as much as I love the others that in my humble opinion are simply perfect.
I didn’t get much objection when I gave my birthday girl an ice cream cone in the middle of the day and told her “lets go play outside cuz its snowing” She was puzzled to say the least and the other kids were a bit jealous but I couldn’t help myself. All day long it had been snow drizzling. Not much after I mentioned how I wished we would get big snow flakes did Mother Nature grant my wish so I scrambled to gather up my gear, my Valentine and of course a very pink ice cream cone.
I have been anxiously waiting to play outside since I had seen a photo online a few weeks ago taken when the snow was falling. It didn’t take long to realize it was a tad bit colder than we thought.
Not that my little birthday girl was complaining much. After all she had ice cream in her hand.
Granted she was a bit cold and made sure to let me know how much after I asked her to take a bite LOL
What better place for a session that a place that speaks all boy. Momma did a little exploring and found two great locations for their photos session. Over the last 2 years I have had the pleasure of photographing these two adorable little guys several times and I can’t get over how much they have grown up in such a short amount of time.
I first met them back in December 2011 for a family photo session at Michel Schlumberger winery in Sonoma County, California. Over the years I have become very good friends with the family and I am so very excited they have recently decided to come out to Minnesota. I gotta admit its the best feeling having a little bit of home (a part of my life in California) now so close to me here in Minnesota.
“Life’s a journey, but sometimes you should stop and smell the rocks.”
I fell in love with this image the moment I saw it. It actually reminded me of those images you see all over FB with a quote attached to it. I asked his momma to give me a quote and this is what she said.
I find it funny how my girls still get excited when I say its time to take photos. Considering we do this at least 3 times a year, I’d think they would get tired of me putting a camera in their face but luckily that is not the case.
Now that we are getting settled into our new home, its time to update the photos for the walls. Its still a few months away till our summer/end of year photos but my girl insisted she get in on the fun and I got a wall worthy photo right off the top.
I had so much fun hanging out with Sweet Little Ella this afternoon. So much personality wrapped up into such a tiny little person is just too cute! It was still a tad bit cool out and the snow had turned to slush but the warm sun was a welcome treat.
Its been 9 months since I left the North Bay Area of California for the North Metro Area of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Its been a long cold winter so I’ll admit I have spent most of my time indoors with the exception of those few times we went ice fishing. Needless to say, there is really nothing to prepare a person for the winters here in Minnesota but I am glad my girls have adjusted well and are enjoying all the snow. It wont be long before all the snow is gone and the rain will turn everything green.
Now that we are a week into Spring, the snow is finally starting to melt away as the temperatures begin to warm up a bit. Its so weird to say that being in the upper 30s to mid 40s feels warm to me. Yesterday I had the perfect opportunity to take advantage of the sun and go exploring AKA location scouting. My little model had a blast and couldn’t help but to laugh when the snow was so deep I found myself practically sitting in the snow when I would squat to get the shot.
