I had a great time hanging out with Haley, her family and close friends for her senior session at Taylors Falls, MN. I love exploring new places especially here in MN since most everything is still very new to me.
Luckily the weather cleared up in time for Haley’s session and we got a few hours rain free despite the cold. Taylor’s Falls is a absolutely gorgeous and if you haven’t had a chance to visit I would highly recommend visiting.
The sun decided to peek out from the clouds just as we were getting ready to take photos of her with her flute.
“Life’s a journey, but sometimes you should stop and smell the rocks.”
I fell in love with this image the moment I saw it. It actually reminded me of those images you see all over FB with a quote attached to it. I asked his momma to give me a quote and this is what she said.
I can’t let the little ones have all the fun when I have a couple teenagers who wanna come out and play too 😉 Truth is teenagers are so much fun to work with especially when I have a couple girl friends who are just as excited as I am to get out and play.
My oldest asked one of her closest friends to join her as we went out for a mini photo shoot. They both are currently Freshman at Blaine High School so we still have a few more year till its time for Senior Photos.
I find it funny how my girls still get excited when I say its time to take photos. Considering we do this at least 3 times a year, I’d think they would get tired of me putting a camera in their face but luckily that is not the case.
Now that we are getting settled into our new home, its time to update the photos for the walls. Its still a few months away till our summer/end of year photos but my girl insisted she get in on the fun and I got a wall worthy photo right off the top.
I had so much fun hanging out with Sweet Little Ella this afternoon. So much personality wrapped up into such a tiny little person is just too cute! It was still a tad bit cool out and the snow had turned to slush but the warm sun was a welcome treat.
So what does one do in the middle of winter here in Minnesota? Go Ice Fishing of course! Needless to say winters here in MN are far different than what we are used to in California and snow is a whole new beast I NEVER experienced before moving to MN. Seeing all the cars/trucks and ice house out on the middle of a lake while driving on it so cool and weird all at the same time. The first time we went out was right before a storm arrived so the snow was blowing on the ice.
Unfortunately our first time out on the ice it was a bit TOO CHILLY for me so I sat in the comfort of the warm truck or car while the girls played out on the ice.
By the end of our first trip however it was just too cold so we all sat in the truck while the poles hung out on the ice
Since my oldest was off a camp when we went out the first time, we went out again. Taking advantage of all the snow on the lake the girls made snow angels.
Weather was so much nicer the second time out. Not exactly the most exciting sport.
When it gets really boring then its time to relax.
Probably the funniest part of this trip was my car got stuck in the snow. Now how many people can say they got their car stuck in the snow on the lake?
A little over a month after moving to Minnesota, I had our first visitors from California and got to spend an awesome day out on a real farm about 2 hrs away from me.
I can’t get over how much these two adorable little boys have grown!!
Also got some adorable photos of their two cousins ♥
Taken just a couple weeks after E had eye surgery.
A couple of weeks ago I took a short winter trip to Minnesota. One more season and I will have experienced them all. When I planned my visit this time around I had expected to experience the extreme cold that my dear friends talk about but instead Mother Nature had other plans this year and it was unusually warm. It was however 0 degrees when I arrived which to my surprise I was warm enough in all the layers this Cali girl could put together. Despite Accuweather saying no snow, I woke up to the lovely white stuff falling Monday morning. This California girl has never really seen snow fall so you can imagine my excitement. Mother Nature delivered just in time 😉
On my final day in town I took a trip down to see the frozen Minnehaha Falls. Probably one of the coolest frozen acts of nature I have ever seen in my life.
Surprisingly my model for the afternoon was a bit colder than I was. I love her brightly colored coat and scarf with the frozen falls in the background.
I couldn’t visit the falls without getting a photo of myself so here you go. I can’t wait to go back again once it warms up.
